My career path

​

During my professional career, I have been linked  to the financial sector (since 1994) and to the university academy (since 1995).

​​

As a professional in the financial sector and specifically in the Stock Market, I have been in charge, among other activities, of brokerage houses such as INS Valores and Popular Valores, as well as having been chairman of the board of directors of BCR Valores, three of the largest brokerage houses in Central America.

​

In the banking area, I worked as an advisor to the General Management of Banco Popular and Community Development, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Banco de Costa Rica.

​

As part of the executive group of different financial institutions as well as an independent advisor, I have participated in different specialized committees: Investments, Treasury, Assets and Liabilities, Audit, Trusts, among others.

​

I have also been linked to the real estate sector, structuring real estate investment funds in Popular Fondos de Inversión and later similar instruments in the private sector, this combined with the structuring of financing mechanisms for real estate development.

​

Additionally, I have been a consultant for international organizations such as World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Pan American Health Organization, the United Nations Development Program, among others. In the last two years I have done consultancies on green taxes, thematic bonds (green, blue, social), and some environmental issues

​

At the National University of Costa Rica, I have been a professor in the financial and macroeconomics area, teaching courses such as International Finance, Financial Markets, Banking and Capital Markets, Macroeconomics, Economic Policy, Public Finance, among others.

​

As a researcher I have worked in different research projects: Fiscal Policies, Financial Markets, Short-Term Macroeconomic and Social Prospects, and Productive Chains.

 

Finally, as a public official I was Director of Public Credit, department of Treasury where I was in charge of the debt processes of the Costa Rican public sector, monitoring the public investment processes and participating in the government bond auction mechanism. among other activities.
